A warm welcome to The Department of Metal-Work Technology.

In 1982, Government approved the setting up of the Division of Technical Education to include the Department of Business Education, Home Economics and Engineering. In 1988, considering the (NBTE) Curriculum, the Engineering Department was further divided into 5 units namely- Metalwork, Building, Automobile, Electrical/Electronics and Woodwork. Recently, in an attempt to abide by the NCCE requirements, the Department of Mechanical and Metalwork was split into two and renamed: Automobile and Metal-Work Technology Departments respectively. Hence, students can now specialize either in Metalwork or Automobile Technology starting from the 1998 academic session.

The Philosophy of the program is:

  • To provide technical teachers with intellectual and professional background adequate for teaching Basic Technology at Junior Secondary School Level and Metalwork Technology, at the Senior Secondary School Level and to make them adaptable to any changing situation;
  • To provide qualified technical teachers and practitioners of technology capable of  teaching Basic Technology in Junior Secondary School;
  • To produce technical teachers who will be able to teach Metalwork Technology at Senior Secondary School Level; and
  • To produce technical teachers who will be able to inculcate the scientific and technological attitude and values into the society.

The vision is to produce technical teacher and medium skilled manpower with intellectual and professional background adequate for teaching basic technology at junior secondary school level and metalwork at the senior secondary school level and to make them adaptable to any changing situation in technological development nationwide.
