Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) is a Skills training programme designed to prepare and expose SIWES students for the industrial work situation they are likely to meet after graduation.
SIWES exposes students to work methods and techniques in handling equipments and machineries that may not be available in the College. It provides an avenue for SIWES students in the College to acquire Industrial skills and experience in their course of study.
SIWES Unit is under the purview of the Provost, and is charged with the responsibility of giving students’ placement yearly for the Students Industrial Work Experience (SIWES). The students can be from our College or from other Institutions.
The SIWES Exercise is an Annual Programme for 300-Level students which is usually done at the end of Second Semester Examination for all combinations in the School of Vocational and Technical Education (SVTE), all Computer combination students in the School of Sciences (SOS), all Music and Economics/Computer combinations in the School of Arts and Social Sciences (SASS).
To bridge the gap between theory in the School System and practice in Industries.
To produce skilled technical and science oriented students towards self reliance and to become employers of labour.
Scope and Responsibilities/Services Provided
- Training of students to acquire practical skills in relevant disciplines.
- Placement of students to various companies for industrial scheme
- Preparing and organizing students’ orientation programmes and staff briefings.
- Compiling and processing of rosters, placement and master lists for industrial training.
