The Alumni Association, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, is an association that has been in existence for over four and a half decades before the change of name from the Lagos State College of Education to its present name. The Alumni Association has its members spread across all walks of life, ranging from academics to captains of industry, law, accounting, engineering and politics, to mention a few. Some of the notable members include Prof. C.O. Fasan (LASU); Prof. Olasunkanmi Gbadamosi, Prof. Mrs. Benedict, Prof. Yomi Akindele Oscar, all of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye; Prof. Olujide (UI); Prof. M.O.B. Mohammed (LASU); Prof. Tobi Pemede (LASU); Prof. Joel Gbenu (LASU); Chief Shola Amore, Police Commissioner (rtd.). Also worth mentioning are Hon. S.O.B. Agunbiade; Majority Leader, Lagos State House of
Assembly; Hon. Ibrahim Layode, and Hon. Lanre Ogunyemi, the current state secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The association, through the efforts and steadfastness of past executives and the present, can today boast of a befitting alumni building. The association had over time held various programmes and activities within the College premises. Some of the activities include the annual Football Cup competition, the annual Christmas Carol event, end-ofyear party and the annual Ramadan lecture, to mention just a few. The Alumni Association has often performed responsibilities that are expected of the body. Some of these include the donation of power generator and ceiling fans to the College, and purchase of notebooks and pens donated to all part-1 students. The Association played a vital role in the centralization of the 65-year retirement age for the Administrative Staff of the College. Of recent, an alumnus, Dr. Rotimi Oladele (Managing Director, Megavon Nig. Ltd.), was in the Colleg, wherein promised to establish and underwrite a full-fledged entrepreneurship centre for the institution. The Alumni Association of this great citadel of learning is optimistic that being the first state institution of higher learning in Lagos, the enormous facilities within the college and with the great human capital investment that the good Lord has blessed the college with, we look forward to His Excellency, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his entire cabinet to pronounce our great College as a University of Education. Long live AOCOED Long live Lagos State God bless our nation.
